When VG Locked (Error 0516-1201)

Message ” 0516-1201 lsvg: Warning: Volume group nimvg is locked. This command will continue retries until lock is free. If lock is inadvertent and needs to be removed, execute ‘chvg -u nimvg’”


If someone try to view the volume group state while the volume group is locked, he or she will get above message. Volume group usually get locked with LVM command for example migratepv etc


I got this message when I ran migratepv from one LUN to another LUN (To read more click here AIX LVM migrates data without downtime )and then tried lsvg to display VG properties
